The Counter-Intelligence Corps was a World War II and early Cold War intelligence agency within the United States Army.
Counter-Intelligence Corps in The Man With the Iron Heart
The Counter-Intelligence Corps had the primary responsibility of rooting out and eradicating the German Freedom Front after World War II. While the CIC was reasonably successful from 1945-1947, public opinion in the United States turned against the continued occupation of Germany. Moreover, the CIC was stymied by the unwillingness German citizens to turn against the GFF, and the inability of the four primary occupying Allies to cooperate.
