Costa Rica is a small country in Central America. It is bordered by Nicaragua to the north and Panama to the south. It is notable for being one of a very few nations in the world with no armed forces.

Costa Rica in Southern Victory[]

Costa Rica and the United States had never gone to war by 1930. In that year, the USS Remembrance put into port at Puerto Limon. A gunboat of the Costa Rican Navy, which looked like a toy beside the American airplane carrier, rendezvoused with the larger vessel. Its chief officer, Lieutenant Commander Garcia, stated his wish that friendly relations between Costa Rica and the USA would continue, while Confederate merchants looked on.[1]
