The city is the center of a metro area of 728,063. The city's name comes from a poetic synonym for America, derived from the name of Christopher Columbus.

Columbia in Southern Victory[]

Given its close location to Marshlands, Anne Colleton did a great deal of business in Columbia throughout much of her life. After the failure of the Congaree Socialist Republic, Scipio hid out in Columbia for the remainder of the Great War.

While Columbia was spared the ravages of the Great War, it did fall to United States General Irving Morrell during the last months of the Second Great War.
