The Republic of Colombia is a constitutional republic in northwestern South America. Colombia is the 26th largest nation in the world and the fourth largest in South America. It has the 29th largest population in the world and the second largest in South America, after Brazil.
During the golden age of the Spanish Empire, what is now Colombia was part of New Granada. The name Colombia is derived from Italian-Spanish Admiral Christopher Columbus.
Colombia in "King of All"[]
Colombia was the primary hotbed for producing caffeine, the world's most prolific illegal drug. In 1988, a Colombian crew used the Panamanian freighter Libertad as a front for smuggling caffeine in the U.S.
Colombia in Southern Victory[]
Colombia was neutral during the Great War, even though some of its neighbors fought on both sides.[1] In 1925, Colombia entered into a border dispute with Venezuela. The United States backed Colombia, and warned Venezuela's backer, Germany, not to give weapons to Venezuela. Germany denied doing so, and issued a mirror warning to the U.S. The conflict was resolved without bloodshed.[2]
Colombia did not participate in the Second Great War and remained neutral.[3]
