Chillicothe

Chillicothe, Ohio is a city (and former state capital) about half way between Columbus and the Ohio River.

Chillicothe in Southern Victory

Chillicothe was taken as part of the Confederate salient during Operation Blackbeard.

Colonel Irving Morrell defended the city with a number of barrels and succeeded in stalling the Confederate advance. However, the Confederates broke through U.S. lines to the west of the city. Morrell was forced to retreat so as not to be cut off.
