Charlotte collage-1-

Charlotte is the largest city in the state of North Carolina. Nicknamed the Queen City, Charlotte (as well as the county containing it) is named in honor of Charlotte of Mecklenburg, Queen Consort of the United Kingdom. During the American Revolution, British commander General Charles Cornwallis occupied the city but was driven out afterwards by hostile residents, prompting him to write that Charlotte was "a hornet's nest of rebellion," leading to another city nickname: The Hornet's Nest.

Charlotte in Southern Victory[]

During the Second Great War in early 1944, Charlotte became the temporary capital of the Confederate States of America after Richmond, Petersburg, and Portsmouth all fell to the United States, being President Donald Partridge's seat of power after the killing of Jake Featherston in Georgia. It was near Charlotte in Pineville that Partridge surrendered his country to the USA on July 14, 1944.
