Charles Griffith Ross (November 9, 1885 – December 5, 1950) was the White House Press Secretary for US President Harry Truman from 1945-1950. Before that, Ross was a Pulitzer Prize winning-journalist. Ross and Truman were old friends from Missouri.

Charlie Ross in The Hot War

Press secretary Charlie Ross abruptly died in December 1950, just as the situation in Korea was disintegrating to the point that President Harry Truman was contemplating using atomic weapons. Stephen Early replaced Ross on a temporary basis. While Early, who'd held the position under Franklin D. Roosevelt, was more than up to the task, Truman missed his friend Charlie Ross for some time after his death.
