MFC

Weighing. We haven't applied the MFC approach to novellas. No real reason, we just haven't. I can see merits in either approach. I think we hold off until we can get a quorum, and then go from there.TR (talk) 02:09, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

HT doesn't write many novellas. I'm sure there are some but I can't think of any. (It also muddies the waters that the distinction between short, novella, and long is pretty nebulous and arbitrary.) But TBoN is very well crammed with characters who deserve to be catalogued but don't contribute much to the plot.Matthew Babe Stevenson (talk) 02:51, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

My position is that we wait and see. I reviewed the H!H! and DitB character categories. H!H! has one minor character, DitB has 2-3. While novellas are longer works, they are still "short" works, and so minor characters may have a disproportionate role, even if it's a brief cameo.

But having read TBoN, I suspect Matthew is right, and we'll have a number of very short character articles in the mix. So I vote that we wiki the piece, see what the character shake down is, and then conflate to MFC if warranted by the number of characters. It's an extra task, but I think it just makes more sense.

We'll do something similar with the Amelia Earhart piece when it drops; given that it is AH, it will probably look more like H!H! than TBoN. TR (talk) 17:17, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
