- That's Stirling's name in a novel where he "borrows" Turtledove's characters and places that were set in Stirling's universe. (Follow all that? See the story article for more info.) I'm unsure how canonical that is. On the other hand, the conflict Turtledove depicts is one conflict in a series of hostilities since The Change although a very serious attempted invasion.
