Has anyone here read many of the Chicks stories beyond the ones specifically relevant here? I was wondering if there are any with transgender heroines.JonathanMarkoff (talk) 07:31, March 20, 2019 (UTC)
- I browsed a few stories when I borrowed individual books from the library. I don't recall any transgender heroines. ML4E (talk) 19:35, March 20, 2019 (UTC)
- Given the dates of publication, I find it unlikely. Turtle Fan (talk) 02:17, March 21, 2019 (UTC)
- The handful I have read do not. Trans characters weren't common in mainstream fantasy in the 1990s. But as there is one volume from 2015, the series might not be dead yet. Given its social consciousness, I'm sure that if the series continues, it will get around to trans issues eventually.Matthew Babe Stevenson (talk) 08:25, March 21, 2019 (UTC)
- Well, whaddya know? The very first story in the first Chicks volume is a short piece (about the length of a Prob Zero) by the late, great Roger Zelazny, where the scenario is basically "Some Like It Xena." https://www.baen.com/Chapters/1439133018/1439133018___3.htm Matthew Babe Stevenson (talk) 10:23, May 7, 2019 (UTC)
- I've trawled through more Chicks books, and found transgender characters in "Looking for Rhonda Honda" by William Sanders in The Chick is in the Mail and "The Gypsy Queen" by Catherine H. Shaffer in Turn the Other Chick.Matthew Babe Stevenson (talk) 08:59, May 12, 2019 (UTC)
