Dramatis personae[]
The Jewish refugees:
- Friedmans:
- Berel Friedman and Emma Friedman.
- Rachel Friedman (age 4), their daughter, apparently an only child.
- Korczaks:
- Jacob Korczak and Yetta Korczak
- David Korczak (age 12) and an unnamed younger boy, their sons.
- Gellers:
- Isaac Geller and Bertha Geller.
- Their son and daughter, who are never named.
The supernatural aid:
Local gentiles:
- Tadeusz Czuma, a fisherman, never appears directly.
Antisemitic dictators:
- Antiochus IV Epiphanes, posthumous reference.
- Adolf Hitler, does not appear directly.
Others:
- A few unnamed German guards.
If anyone finds something I've missed, please correct my list. It appears that there were 11 Jewish refugees, but only 8 are named. I find this a little disappointing, given the "no person left behind" theme of the story. I would have appreciated a roll call scene at the end, telling us all the names and giving the right emotional impact.Matthew Babe Stevenson (talk) 22:25, November 12, 2019 (UTC)
