Soviets

These characters are/were nationals of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, commonly abbreviated as the USSR or Soviet Union.

In OTL, the USSR only existed 1917-1991, a shorter time than the lifetimes of some people. Therefore, most historical people in this category, and many of the fictional ones, were citizens of another country at some point.

Across multiple timelines where the USSR existed at all, Harry Turtledove has either shortened the Union's duration so that it ends in the 1940s, or lengthened it so that it endures well into the 21st century.

In the shared universe War World Series, the Union was reconstituted a decade or so after its OTL fall.
