Regents

This category lists people who served as a regent either in OTL or in one of the works of Harry Turtledove, or both.

A regent is a person or group of persons selected to act as head of state of a monarchy because the ruler is a minor, not present or unwilling to rule, or debilitated. A ruling group or body is called a regency council. The period of rule of a regent or regents is referred to as a regency.

The 20th Century saw several states that were onstensibly monarchies, but had no formal monarch present in the country. For example, from 1920 to 1944, Hungary was ruled by Miklos Horthy, who refused the title of "king", and opted for "regent".
