This category is for 1) fictional characters who had at least one of their children predecease them; 2) historical figures who lose a child within one of the fictional works of Harry Turtledove that did not predecease them in OTL. For example, in The Hot War series, Margaret Truman, daughter of Harry Truman, is killed in 1952 during World War III, but her father is spared. In OTL, she outlived him by over 30 years. Historical figures with sufficiently altered biographies may also appear in this category. In Joe Steele, a much different Joseph Stalin has two sons die in infancy. In OTL, all of three Stalin's children survived to adulthood, although only two outlived him. Certain historical figures may appear in both this category and its OTL counterpart.
