Cyrus the Great first unified a series of Iranian/Persian city states while subduing Mesopotamia, building the Achaemenid Empire in about 550 CE. A variety of dynasties ruled in the centuries that followed, several of which included foreign conquerors. In 1979, the incredibly unpopular Pahlivi dynasty was ousted by the Iranian Revolution, which created the Islamic Republic of Iran, and replaced the monarch as head of state with the "Supreme Leader". That remains the status quo as of this writing.
This main category should be a parent category for heads of state such as the Supreme Leader. Persian monarchs should go in one or both of the appropriate subcategories.
