This category is for members of various countries' nobility who held the rank of Earl.

Note: The rank of Earl is equivalent to that of Count. Most countries which recognize titles of nobility offer only one of those ranks. (The United Kingdom has earls and not counts, though it does have countesses, because there is no feminine version of the title "earl" in English.) In several of Harry Turtledove's fantasy stories, one nation will contain both counts and earls. Detina and the Raumsdalian Empire are examples.

Etymologically, "earl" comes from the Old German title jarl. Thus, Bizogot jarls are included here.
