Carbondale is a city in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States, approximately 15 miles due northeast of the city of Scranton. The population was 8,891 at the 2010 census. Like many other cities and towns in the region, Carbondale was once a prominent center of coal mining industry.
Carbondale in The War That Came Early[]
In 1941, Peggy Druce came to Carbondale to sell war bonds. Her host, druggist Vernon Vaughn, attempted to seduce her, but she resisted the temptation quite easily. [1]
