Bologna is the capital city of Emilia-Romagna in northern Italy, in the Pianura Padana.
After Roman quaestor Tribonian arrived in Ostrogothic Italy, his guide, Quintus Verus, took the Via Ameilia from Ancona to Bologna, where they switched to the Via Cassia to finish the trip to Florence.
The Mazzillis and the Crosettis made a rest stop for snacks, espressos and the bathrooms just past Bologna on the way to Rimini.
In March 1952 during World War III, the Soviets made their way into Bologna, although the Italian military denied that the Soviets actually controlled the town.
