Billy Beddingfield was a soldier in the 47th North Carolina regiment of the ConfederateArmy of Northern Virginia during the American Civil War. Records indicate that Beddingfield was repeatedly promoted within the noncommissioned ranks, but was then demoted soon after, on nearly every occasion. The reason for this oddity is not explained. There seems to be very little else recorded about him.
Billy (or Billie) Beddingfield[1] was a soldier in the 47th North Carolina, one of the first Confederate Army regiments to be equipped with AK-47s during the Second American Revolution. His prowess in battle earned him several promotions, but his habit of flouting regulations caused him to be subsequently demoted each time.
When the Rivington Men were proving their mettle to the Confederates, Beddingfield was beaten by Benny Lang in a fight started by Beddingfield. Lang used a fighting style unknown to the Army of Northern Virginia.
During the Battle of Washington City, Beddingfield saw that PresidentAbraham Lincoln had emerged in full view on the White House lawn. He lifted his rifle to take aim at Lincoln, but was dissuaded from firing by his teammate Nate Caudell, who said that a live Lincoln was necessary to secure recognition of Confederate independence.
