Benjamin Joshua Morris was an attorney in Thetford, Atlantis. He was married to Lucy Morris. For several years, Morris chronicled the activities of Samuel Jones and the House of Universal Devotion with an eye toward eventually exposing Jones and the House as a scam. He approached Athelstan Helms and James Walton in the Belvedere Hotel while they ate dinner. Upon leaving the Belvedere to get his proof, Morris was killed with three bullets to the chest.
Morris' murder was part of an elaborate conspiracy of Atlantean police officers to frame the House. Casimir Karpinski, a police sergeant in Thetford, actually killed Morris. Karpinski's behavior after the murder tipped off Helms and brought the conspiracy down.[1]
