Benjamin was a copper-smith who lived in Thessalonica's Jewish quarter. His skill was such that Gentiles came from all over the city to purchase his wares. During the barbarian siege of 597, Bishop Eusebius purchased arrowheads from him to arm the city militia. Some Christians, like Claudia, were skeptical that Jewish-made arrowheads could be blessed by a Christian cleric.
