The Baltimore News-American was a broadsheet newspaper with a continuous lineage (in various forms, with name changes) of more than two hundred years of Baltimore newspapers. For much of the middle 20th Century, it had the largest circulation in the city. Its final edition was published on May 27, 1986.

The Baltimore News-Post reported on the disastrous battle at Midway on June 8, 1942. It countered President Franklin D. Roosevelt's claim that the carelessness of the press was to blame by citing poor troop training and planning on the Administration's part.
