The Avro Lancaster is a British four-engined World War II heavy bomber made initially by Avro for the Royal Air Force (RAF). It first saw active service in 1942, and together with the Handley Page Halifax it was one of the main heavy bombers of the RAF, the RCAF and squadrons from other Commonwealth and European countries serving within RAF Bomber Command.

Avro Lancaster in Worldwar[]

The Lancaster was Britain's premier bomber during World War II. Most British bombers were destroyed during the opening attacks of the Race Invasion of Tosev 3, including those participating in the thousand bomber raid over Cologne. A few daring pilots staged attacks against Race ground forces and even starships before going down themselves. George Bagnall was a Lancaster pilot who survived the downing of his craft and spent the war in Europe helping the Germans and Russians to oppose the Race.

Surviving Lancasters were refitted with radar and used as early warning planes since the Race had missiles capable of homing in on radar stations on the ground. Lancasters could simply turn off the radars and the missiles would lose track of them. These converted bombers were used with mild success, since while they could track their enemy again, British fighters stilled suffered heavy losses.
