Arkansistan was one of the larger and more progressive nations in the Sunset Lands.[1] It had tremendous oil resources, which helped finance its own technological advancements,[2] producing everything from vehicles[3] to radar dishes.[4] While Arkansistani products were on par with those produced by Republican Sultanate of the Maghrib, the were often cheaper, making them attractive to European countries. Europeans also avoided doing business with their Muslim neighbors as much as possible.[5]
In addition to the goods it produced, Arkansistan also helped finance scientific expeditions and other projects that expanded learning. In the 1410s AH, the madrasa at Tuskalusa initiated an archeological dig at the site of Pompeii in the Grand Duchy of Italy.[6]
Despite its distance from Europe, Arkansistan was not safe from Aquinists. In one notorious attack, Aquinists managed to destroy a dam in Arkansistan that flooded one square parasangs (about 300 square miles), killing thousands.[7]
Literary comment[]
The borders of Arkansistan are unrevealed, although the nation appears to stretch from Arkansas to Alabama at the very minimum. The reference to oil suggests that it controls at least part of Texas and/or Oklahoma.
