The Aphrodite (named for the goddess of love) was a ship belonging to the family of Menedemos and Sostratos. It had 20 rowers on either side, with wider beams for cargo.

In 310 BC, Menedemos captained the Aphrodite with Sostratos acting as purser on a trading expedition for the first time.
