Anastasia, was the wife of Constantine IV, Emperor of the Romans, and the mother of Justinian II. She was mostly deferential to her son's will once he became sole emperor. However, she still mothered him from time to time, such as reminding him that it was not his daughter Epiphaneia's fault that his wife Eudokia died. Years later, after Justinian had remarried and had a son and heir, Tiberius, she watched helplessly as rebels seized control of Constantinople burst into the church of the Mother of God and murdered her grandson in cold blood.
