Abdülmecid II, (29 May 1868 – 23 August 1944) His Imperial Majesty (also with various alternate spellings, including Abdul Mejid, Aakhir Khalifatul Muslimeen Sultan Abd-ul-Mejid, Abdul Medjit) was the last Caliph of the Ottoman Dynasty, and nominally the 37th Head of the Ottoman Imperial House from 1922 to 1944, by virtue of being the first cousin of Mehmed VI, the last Sultan. Had the Ottoman Empire not collapsed in 1922, Abdul Majid likely would have become Sultan himself. He spent his last years in France.

Abdul Majid II in Southern Victory[]

Abdul Majid II was the 37th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, rising to the throne in the 1920s. He continued the policy of persecuting Armenians started early in 1915, despite the protestations of his country's ally, the United States. This practice tapered off with the end of the decade.[1]

Under Abdul Majid, the Ottomans reluctantly entered the Second Great War as a German ally,[2] and while the Empire benefited little, it was once again on the winning side of a major global war.[3]
